Martin started playing in bands with school friends and would spend hours memorising songs note-for-note as well as writing his own pieces. This solid foundation allowed him to play with various groups, as well as a stint in his school dance band playing bass. He quickly joined a band on his Diploma Course, which led to the creation of his current rock band, "Demagogue." His influences include Brian May, John Petrucci, Randy Rhoads and Steve Vai although he enjoys teaching and learning all styles of music, whether it be smooth jazz, classic rock or blistering solos. By his early 20s, Martin had set up a small home studio where he records demos, projects for others and full length albums by bands, as well as his own band's recordings. This is something Martin enjoys just as much as playing the guitar and feels it necessary to understand how your playing will affect the overall sound of a group in a live or studio situation. Martin is now offering this recording service to all CMS students. He also enjoys teaching students whatever song or style it is they want to learn, whilst emparting knowledge of technique and, if wanted, some theory as well. Martin regularly plays live in London with Demagogue as well as the occasional Blues Jam in the West End.
