Deborah Hawksley
I was born in Singapore and grew up in East Yorkshire! My mother was determined that I wouldn't speak with a Hull accent, and I was sent for elocution lessons from an early age. And so began my passion for the spoken word. I am a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music where my principal study was voice. I am also a Registered General Nurse, having trained at the Middlesex Hospital in Central London. After winning the prestigious Gold Medal for my year, I returned to music and studied Opera at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Alexa Kesslaar
My interest in voice work started when I trained as an actress. I graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 1990.As a professional actress I worked in various theatres around the country and through this experience realised the importance of using the voice in a healthy and effective way. So, whilst continuing to act, in 1998 I decided to train as a Voice teacher at Central School of Speech and Drama and qualified with a distinction in teaching. Since then I have taught voice full-time. Initially I worked at many leading drama schools, and more recently have worked with business clients, trainee barristers and actors in a one-to one capacity. I also have much experience working with non-native English speakers, helping to clarify correct pronunciation, intonation and delivery.
