Musical Education
In addition to private tuition in Cape Breton: The Columbus Boychoir School (now The American Boychoir School) Princeton, New Jersey, USA Brandon University, Brandon, Manitoba, Canada (Bachelor of Music, 1st study – piano, 2nd study – voice)
As a chorister and piano soloist with the Columbus Boychoir, toured the USA extensively, and sang in the American premier of Benjamin Britten’s The Golden Vanity. With the Boychoir, took part in a recording of Mendelssohn’s Elijah with Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Whilst at university, accompanied a wide variety of singers and instrumentalists and, the violin pedagogue, Max Rostal. Throughout university years, sang with the University Chorale and formed a group of 16 singers, called the Purcell Singers . (This ensemble continues to perform.)
Upon moving to London in 1980, joined the Bach Choir, (conductor – Sir David Willcocks) staying for eight seasons, and took part in allperformances, including the 1981 Royal Wedding, and tours to Hong Kong, Israel, Norway and the Netherlands. As an accompanist, took part in recitals in Canada, USA, UK, Israel, Denmark, and accompanied private ‘cello lessons taught by Jacqueline du Pre.
