‘Canary Chorale’ is ‘City Music Service’s’ very own brand new choir! The ‘Chorale’ is based in Canary Wharf and rehearses in Billingsgate Market so is ideally situated for all those who work in that locality. Of course singers from further afield are most welcome and indeed some of the current members work in the City. Choir membership is open to anyone who has an interest in music; the ability to read music is not important and there are no auditions! Happily, this has led us to create an informal and unstuffy atmosphere, where members can meet to have fun, relax and make music together for an hour each week after work!

Rehearsals normally take place on a Monday evening for just one hour from 6:30pm – 7:30pm. The choir performs three concerts each year, at Christmas, at Easter and in the summer. The repertoire is wide and varied and there are always opportunities for members to try solos or duets in our concerts, should they wish to! Our Musical Director is Andrew Sackett who has a wealth of choral conducting experience, having spent eleven years at Tewkesbury Abbey where he directed the professional weekday choir as well as the highly acclaimed Malvern chamber choir, ‘Aldwyn Voices’. Andrew is currently musical director of one of the choirs at St Peter’s Eaton Square as well as ‘Freshfields Choir’. He recently conducted a ‘City Music Services’ event with the combined choirs of several London firms in a memorable performance of Carl Orff’s ‘Carmina Burana’ in the Temple Church.
